Fly Fishing Gear

Just a short walk out our back door and through the woods lies the beautiful Kinnickinnic River, a class 1 trout stream. We are also a short drive from the Rush, St. Croix and Willow Rivers. Located among these beautiful resources, at the northern gateway to the Driftless Region, we are your perfect home-base for an unforgettable fishing adventure.

With each rental, we provide a brief run-through on river respect and understanding, as well as the importance and impact of catch-and-release fishing. If we like you, we’ll even point you in the direction of some good spots – but the best spots must be found by the angler him or herself. A portion of rental proceeds is donated to Kinni CC and Kinni River Land Trust for river preservation and restoration.

Our Selection of Gear:
•TFO NXT Black Label 5-weight fly rods – $40 for a full day.
•Boots and waders in various sizes – $40 for a full day.
•Full setup – $70 for a full day.

Extras – priced a la carte:
•Selection of flies that perform well in our local waters.
•Vests
•Landing nets
•Cooler for your favorite local craft brew.

For anything we don’t have on hand, Lund’s Fly Shop is a great local fly shop run by Brian Smolinski. Make sure to check them out! They have great gear and a huge selection of flies.

Bike Rentals

River Falls is quickly becoming a well-known destination for cyclers of all types. We have fat tire bikes for rent at the property, $40 for a half day, $70 for a full day.

The Garage Bikes & Brews carries road bikes, mountain bikes and electric bikes for rental and for purchase.

Mountain Biking
 – We’re located just down the street from White Tail Ridge Mountain Bike Trail. The network of trails is complete with easy to advanced routes, jumps, berms, a skills park, and even a handy detour to Rush River Brewing Company.

Road and Trail Biking – Between City trails, UWRF trails, and beautiful back country roads, River falls has miles and miles of opportunities for road cyclers. Check out the City’s website for some great routes.

Kayak Rentals

Kayak Rentals

Kayaking is a great way to experience the beauty and tranquility of our local rivers. Our fleet contains one tandem (double) and two single kayaks, complete with lifejackets and paddles. Our kayaks are made of a tougher grade of plastic, which minimizes plastic scraping, peeling and depositing in the rivers – or as the fishermen call it, the “plastic hatch.”

A brief run-though on river respect, Driftless Region appreciation, leave no trace, and river etiquette is included in each rental. A portion of proceeds is donated to Kinni Corridor Collaborative and Kinni River Land Trust for river preservation and restoration.
Prices – $40 for a half day, $70 for a full day, per craft – Price does not include transportation.

Prior arrangements and reservations are required.

Transportation and Logistics

We are not a full-scale kayak outfitter. If you are looking for end-to-end shuttling to and from the river, we recommend one of the local kayak outfitters, Kinni Creek Lodge or Kinni Kayak.

Here are our route options/suggestions:
From Country Inn River Falls to downtown River Falls – Launch by the Country Inn and paddle downtown to The Garage Bikes & Brews. Once here, you can drop off your kayak and we’ll handle the rest. Length of paddle – 1 hour, depending on water and paddler speed. Grab a beer at The Garage, check out the shops and pubs downtown, and enjoy River Falls. Catch a cab or rent a bike back to the Country Inn.
Upper Kinni – Launch upstream of River Falls on one of a number of access points, depending upon your timeframe. Take out by Country Inn River Falls or at The Garage Bikes & Brews.
Self-Transport – If you are willing and able to transport the crafts, you can kayak the St. Croix, the lower Kinni, Perch Lake, or other local resources. We can provide tie downs and suggestions.
